How the hunt works
Leave the wild Pokémon at low HP with False Swipe, inflict a status so it can't faint you, and let it call for help over and over. From the 31st call onward every ally gets 13 shiny rolls (15 with the Shiny Charm), which is roughly 1 in 315 — or 1 in 273 with the charm.
Assumes a maintained chain of 31+ calls: 13 rolls (~1/315), 15 with the charm (~1/273).
The base rate in Pokémon Ultra Moon is 1 in 4,096. The Shiny Charm is available in this game and adds two extra shiny rolls.
Tips
- •An Adrenaline Orb makes calls far more frequent.
- •Bring Leppa Berries — running out of PP breaks the chain.
- •The chain breaks if the caller faints, so keep it asleep or paralysed.
