What this site does
HowToShinyHunt.com answers one question: what is the fastest way to shiny hunt this Pokémon? Search any species and get every documented encounter for it across every mainline game — the location, the method, the encounter rate, the levels and the shiny odds — ranked by expected time to a shiny, with the best hunt highlighted first.
How the rankings are calculated
Each encounter is scored by expected time: the chance of the species appearing, its shiny odds (with the Shiny Charm on by default, and optional boosts like Poké Radar, chain fishing, Sparkling Power sandwiches and the Shiny Donut), multiplied by how long one encounter of that method realistically takes. The lowest expected time wins. Special cases are handled the way the games actually work — Dynamax Adventures use their flat 1 in 300 odds, Max Raids ignore the charm, and shiny-locked encounters are excluded unless you ask to see them.
Where the data comes from
Gen 1–8 encounter tables use the real published rates from the free PokéAPI project. Scarlet & Violet, its DLC, Legends: Z-A and Mega Dimension never publish spawn percentages, so those rows estimate the chance from which species appear in each area and say so on the page. Alpha encounter chances in Legends: Z-A are the real published values.
