How the hunt works
Save directly in front of the Pokémon, start the battle, check the sprite, and reset if it isn't shiny. Every reset is one fresh roll, so the whole hunt is about shortening the reset loop.
The base rate in Pokémon Platinum is 1 in 8,192. There is no Shiny Charm in this game, so the base rate is the best you can get. Poke Radar chaining can reach ~1/200 in grass patches.
