How the hunt works
Pick a patch of grass where your target has the highest encounter rate, then run in a tight loop so you trigger battles as fast as possible. Check the sprite the moment the battle starts, and run from anything that isn't shiny.
The base rate in Pokémon FireRed is 1 in 8,192. There is no Shiny Charm in this game, so the base rate is the best you can get.
