How the hunt works
Use Rock Smash on every breakable rock in the room, leave and re-enter to reset them, and repeat. Slow, but it's the only way to get some cave-only species.
The base rate in Pokémon Crystal is 1 in 8,192. There is no Shiny Charm in this game, so the base rate is the best you can get.
